Al Brisco - Carter- Pickups?

Post by Ray Gehringer »

Hello All,

I got the "Northern Steel" CD from b0b yesterday. Lots of really nice playing and nice Steel sounds throughout the entire CD! I was really impressed with Al Brisco on "All My Loving" and I'm wondering if anyone could tell me what type of pickups he's using in his Carter PSG. Also, is he playing All My Loving on the E9 or C6 neck???

If you e-mail Al at "Steel Guitar Canada", he may share this information with you. I believe he also has the tablature for "All My Lovin'" for sale as well as that of some other tunes on the CD.

I now own the guitar that Al used on the "All My Lovin" recording.

It now has XR-16s but those weren't yet released when the recording was made.

I did an exact transcription of that song. Al sells it at www.steelguitarcanada.com . It was way cool to transcribe the song, listening to the CD, and be playing the same instrument as on the recording. Of course Al offered a lot of advice on the transcription.

I'll shake his tree and get a response here.<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Joey Ace on 23 July 2004 at 03:40 PM.]</p></FONT>

<SMALL>" is he playing All My Loving on the E9 or C6 neck??"</SMALL>
The first verse is E9, the second verse and chorus is C6, he returns to E9 (after Steve Piticco's guitar solo) for the final verse and chorus.

Hi Joey,

Thanks very much for the info. I really thought that Al's sounded great on that tune and I'm intrested in getting a Carter at some point so I had to ask. How do you like the BL XR16's? I have a set of L280's in a Tele and I'm very happy with them.

I like the XR-16s a lot.

I tried TrueTones and did not like them as much. (Most folks love their TTs)

Ironically, I think Al currently uses TTs in his Carter.
