For the life of me I could never understand why Leon Rhoades never made an instrumental album. His playing is so smooth, and so fantastic. Does anyone know why he hasn't recorded? Is anyone out there a friend of his and can tell him that the guitar community would be a better place if he did an instrumental album? Especially with Emmons, or Charlton. Somebody tell this guy how great he is.......PLEASE!!!

That may be a "country" band...but i think their playing jazz.
Amazing how good these guys were in this time period. Considering there wasn't a lot of learning material as we have today. In place of "skiping" over fundmentals, these guys learned their instruments and music from ground up, they also have what i call "the gift"...natural ability. I could be wrong.

Bill, this is STUNNING! Thanks for posting this, I haven't heard this for years (Troubadours' album) and it reinforces something I have just posted on another thread, about the fact that great players were great years and years ago, and they just get better from there! Lawdy! This track was so inspiring to hear again!
Merry Christmas to you and a Happy (lots-more-great-video-postings-please) New Year to you!

Leon did put out a few albums of mostly instrumentals as The Texas Troubadors.
The Bear Family box sets of Earnest Tubb's contain most everything. The Troubadors stuff is astonishing.
