Charlie Archer-Loretta Lynn Band

Post by Kevin Hatton »

I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie Archer tonight and hearing him play with Loretta Lynn. Charlie was a long time guitar player for Conway Twitty while John Hughey played steel. Charlie was playing a new GFI and sounded great through his Nashville 1000.

I first met Charlie in the early '70's, when he was playing guitar for Wilton O'Neal in Oklahoma City. The late Doug Campbell was playing steel at the time. Although I visited with Charlie after a George Jones concert last year, I haven't had a chance to hear him play. I'm sure he's doing a fine job - If his playing is anything like his 6-string work was!
