Mike Sweeney--A TRUE STEELERS CHOICE

Post by Dan Rollans »

This is my first chance to ever post anything on the forum, although,I do read forum daily. Each night, til wee hours of the morning,I am in the shop at STEELERS CHOICE STEEL GUITAR PRODUCTS making pac seats.During these hours I listen to my favorite steelers on the sound system. Emmons,Franklin,Rugg,Wallace,Hearn, dad etc..
to name a few. I now have another to add to the list of "super pickers". MIKE SWEENEY.
I have listened to his two latest(?) cds for last two weeks over and over. I would like to thank Mike for a wonderful job of beautifully
performed great "country music". I may only be an average steeler but I have listened to enough steel recordings to know a "super picker" when I here one. Thank you!

Dan,

Thank you so much for the kind words about my playing!! I have been doing it for a long time and I have to admit it will always be my first love. I want to say thanks to you and your dad for building me a great seat. I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying it and how much my back thanks you as well. I look forward to meeting you someday and seeing your dad again as well. The next time you're in town give me a call or come on down to the Mobile show next month so I can shake your hand. Thanks again!

If you ever get a chance, go see Mike play live. He has got one of the all time classic Emmons push-pull tones going. Like bells going off all over the room. Absolutely beautiful. He is also a fantastic player.

Yep...I had the pleasure of playing guitar with Sweeney for a few years @ the Nashville Palace...since Mike left there I get to play 'steel' out there some...(they did not hire another full time steel player) It's been a very humbling experience to sit where Mike sat and try to play a tenth of what he played out there...He's a bad cat!

Mike has been a dear friend for several years, now. He and Teresa are wonderful people, and Mike is a fine, fine, player. Keep it up, Mike. I missed seeing you at the Palace the last time we were in BNA.
