National Steel Guitars

Post by Ray Montee (RIP) »

Just found a pristine dbl-8, National Steel Guitar, played only for a few lessons then parked in the bedroom corner for some forty years. SHould clean up nice and easy. Has double pickups, and a hard shell case etc.
The elderly lady is dying and she no longer needs the guitar her late husband purchased for her.
I know a little about Ricks and Bigsby but aboslutely nothing about Nationals. Can anyone give me a ROUGH idea of what it might be worth in todays' market?
Many thanks for your consideration.....and possible help.

According to the Vintage Guitar Mag. Price guide 2003, the Console Dual 8 made from 1939-42 with the parallelogram markers. Black top with white sides in Exc condition goes for $500-$900. The 1947-68 "Totem Pole" fingermarkers one goes for $500-$700. WOW!
