Do you know this band ?
Hello
Just got an old 45 record with a good band called "The Westerneers".The Label is Dee Jay out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,so maybe the band are from around Oklahoma.Probably a 60/70 period.Tunes are Redskin Gal,and Maidens Prayer. It`s kind of a western Swing/Hank Thompson sound with a Twin style Sax/steel lead.Any idea who this can be?
If you got old records (steel) you don`t need, let me know.
Sincerely,Egil.Norway

The "WESTERNEERS" was the staff band at the "Westerneer Ballroom", one of the premier dance venues in Oklahoma City back in the 1960's and 70's, and they played great western-swing music as well as country. I knew all of those musicians because their band and the band I worked with, the DIAMONDAIRS, were friendly competitors in those days.
Forumite JERRY HORNER (2nd from left) was the steel-guitar player with The Westerneers during that era, and if you contact Jerry by e-mail I'd bet that he would be happy to give you info about your record and the Westerneers. I would speculate that Jerry played on the record that you have.
Jerry is one of the finest steel-players, both then and now! ...he currently plays in a theater-show in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
