Loretta Lynn album question

I was listening to Loretta's "Blue Kentucky Girl" album just now, and the last song on side 2, titled "Today" played. On the steel break just after the first verse, the first half of it sounds like Don Helms and the second half of it sounds like Hal Rugg. Is it possible they both played on this cut or am I wrong? The styles seem different. BTW, I greatly admire the work of both of these guys. Thanks to anyone who can help. Jason

I've always thought the same thing, tho I've never had a confirmation on it. They had both done her sessions and worked the Wilburn Bros TV show back then, so I'd say it's highly likely that it's both of them.

BTW, a pretty hip thing to do on a commercial country album back then. Wonder whose idea it was? Owen Bradley's?

You are defintely right about it being "hip", if it was indeed Mr. Bradley's idea, that wouldn't surprise me at all. It seems like everything he ever produced has his special "touch" added to it.
