Has any builder ever used brass instead of aluminum for a steel?

Probably not since brass and bronze weigh about the same as steel (.283 #/cubic inch). Aluminum weighs about 1/3 as much, .098#/cubic inch and weight can be an issue. Yep sure have...but it's a non-pedal steel and all the metal is cut out of pure Brass..ha.
