Sneaky Pete in hall of fame?
Does anyone else think that Pete should be in the hall of fame? I know that there are a million great steel players out there, but Pete seems to be such an innovator and brought 2 entirely new generations into the instrument, I am just a youngin' and a Califonia guy so I might lack credibility, but Petes tuning was unique, as was his guitar and approach. Maybe all that still doesn't warrant entrance but I thought I would throw myself out there for some abuse to toughen me up.
thanks
thanks

Some will disagree, but I think he belongs in the SGHOF and so do these GREATS OF THE STEEL GUITAR. Without these guys, putting it very mildly, there will always be __________________________________,

I had his copedant at one time, Ill see if I can get a hold of it again, As for his guitar he always played a S10 fender that had a fuzz tone built into the body, and he always used 2 session 400s, I was lucky enough to play with him a few times with my dad who was in the FBB after Gram died.<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Jesse Harris on 23 April 2003 at 10:37 AM.]</p></FONT>

There's a nominating procedure you are welcome to follow at http://www.scottysmusic.com/abouthof.htm
I agree Jerry deserves induction.
We've discussed his lack of "traditional" Steel-related musicianship a lot, but he has done a lot more to bring the instrument into the public eye than the "usual suspects" whose names keep showing up.
A precident has been set with the induction of "Santo and Johnny" into the HOF last year. They admit they don't have the musical chops of most, but they deserve it for other reasons. Same for Jerry.

Amen Jesse.
If you haven’t heard it, check out his solo on ”It Just Might Be a One-Shot Deal” , it’s on Frank Zappa’s "Waka/Jawaka: Hot Rats" album.
Talk about making history, have a look at his credits on allmusic.com some time - what an amazing body of work by this singular stylist.
Plus, the Pterydactyl Nudie jacket is very cool!
Interesting, both Pete Kleinow and Buddy Emmons are from Indiana - they sure grow good steel players there

its so true greg,
that suit kills.
Pete is quite an amazing fellow and I am really happy that I have gotten to know him, not only is he a great steeler but he is also a major inovator in computer animation and more interestingly stop action animation and was one of the early creators of gumby. On top of that he is a food and drink aficionado, and had written books on the subject including a cocktail guide and greatest beers of the world.
I know everyone has heard the burrito stuff with gram, but in my opinion his tone went to an entirely new level afer he had done much of the post burrito session work.

White Line Fever
they actually had a chart hit with this live recording.<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Jesse Harris on 23 April 2003 at 12:52 PM.]</p></font><FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Jesse Harris on 23 April 2003 at 01:18 PM.]</p></FONT>

hey guys ,i totally agree about sneeky,he is a true inovator of the instrument!he was doing string work (before synths)and layering tracks as well as doing guitar solos on steel.sneeky was one of the reasons i got interested in steel, we need to recognise the rock steelers as well as the other steel legends. the burritos were way before there time, lets also look at al perkins, rusty young, and buddy cage.they were all inovaters, and my rock influences in my early years!

Jesse, is your dad Greg Harris? If so, we were friends back in the 1970's when the Burritos came through Austin with my old pals Eric White, Skip Battyn, and Eddie Ponder. Tell him "hey" for me.

Jesse I have an album of Sneaky Pete by the
same name "Sneaky Pete", an on the back of the LP Album is a pic. of Pete playing a
Fender 400 8 string guitar. My first Pedal
guitar was a Fender 400 guitar in 1959.Looks
like your Dad was playing on nine of the 10
songs on this album i have recorded in 1978.
