Sorry...not my fault!

Post by John Vaughan »

I wrote an email reply (not on Forum) to a thing I got from PedalSteel.us and it seems to have spammed everyone in Christendom. My sincere apologies. I've tried to straighten it out with the mag folks but it continues to annoy. Again, sorry but I don't know why it's happening.

I doubt that it's you. I've received four replies from others myself. Image

Just 1 min. after posting above, I rec'd 9 e-mails, and 8 of them were Removal requests, and besides that; none were addressed to me! Thank goodness, one e-mail was addressed to me by everyones good friend, the "Birthday Boy", Jody Carver! That made up for all the other mistakes of the day! Image Image Enough said, by me! NO LONGER LONELY! I've rec'd 18 of those requests to cancel from the mailing list. Hope somebody straightens this out. At least the virus intrusions that started two weeks ago appear to have subsided.
I'm glad computers save "TIME".

Terry you seem to have an outlook virus,
or a programming error in your server,
or you have been hacked. time to re install from back up
from BEFORE this problem started.
IT IS coming from your server and going out to all you mailing list from the remove message output.
Call you IT guy tout de suite.

Last Xmas I got an e-mail virus and had to go out and get Norton anti virus to clean the computer up, it works great now. The weird thing was, the virus seemed to be coming from steel players in Hawaii and else where? The Norton program goes thru your e-mail first before sending out your mail and even updates your protection against virus's on it's own. It's a fact of life today that if your on the internet, you need good virus protection. I learned that virus's are sometimes called worms.
[This message was edited by Jesse Pearson on 15 April 2003 at 07:12 AM.]

So far, I have been hit with 12 of 'em. Haven't a clue as to where they originate.

Hey Guys -
I got 25 e-mails this morning from people wanting me to "remove" them from the Steel Guitar Magazine mailing list, and I also have nothing to do with it. I have been waiting for my 1st copy for weeks! Terry, what is going on ??

I'm running Outlook and have just set up a rule using the "Rules Wizard" to auto delete any mail with the subject line "Re:REMOVE".

Hopefully this will help some. We'll see.

A virus has been unleashed. The e-mails you are receiving are in fact probably NOT coming from where they say they are. Terry has little or nothing to do with this-he's a victim just like everyone else. The emails you are receiving are in many cases copies of something sent to someone else.
There is nothing, repeat NOTHING you can do at this point but delete the email. Run a virus scan. Stomping your feet and screaming for Terry or someone to FIX IT OR ELSE is pointless. This would have happened whether Terry sent out a mass mailing or not. Chill. Right now sending more email just makes it worse.

I've never understood the rage some folks get into over spam anyway. The minute you go online your privacy goes out the window. As I said in another post, at least it ain't porn.

unfortunately...... Image
