Bought the video from the ET Record Shop 2 weeks ago and I've watched it 3 times. It has ET and the boys in the band doing 21 songs from his television show.Buddy Charleton sounds fantastic on his Sho-Bud guitar.Real country music and good video quality...a must buy for those that love real country music and great musicianship from the band members. Way Cool!!!!

Your right Mike, a definite must have. Buddy's classic ride on Rainbow at Midnight, with the gourgeous, ascending chime lick at the end, is worth the price of the video alone. Of course the rest of the Troubadors kill as usual and ET delivers the honky tonk with that trademark smile. Some of the episodes were in the post Leon days, so Steve Chapman is on a few tunes and we all know that he filled Leon's shoes very well.
[This message was edited by Eddie Lange on 14 April 2003 at 03:50 PM.]

I've got that tape as well! It's a classic, and a MUST HAVE for any Troubador fan! I used to watch those shows, back in the '60s. In fact, I put a big UHF antenna on a 25' pole just to be able to get channel 26 (from D.C.) so's I could watch Buddy! (My Dad also liked to watch the bullfights, afterward.)

Donny: Was it channel 26 or channel 20? I ask because I seem to remember watching those shows on channel 20 )WDCA in Washington, D. C. In fact, (if memory serves me corectly) that channel carried a few of those old shows like "The Wilburn Brothers show, "The Bill Anderson Show" and I think that maybe even Carl Smith had a show that came on; these shows came on late Saturday afternoon/early Saturday evenings. After they were over, we usually would tune to channel 7 (in Washington) to watch "The Porter Waggoner Show.

Yeah, dumb me. Image That was a typo, Tom. I meant channel 20 (which was a very weak WDCA at the time). My old band (The Roane Brothers) also did a half-hour country show on the now-defunct Balto. channel 24 back in the early '70s, but those call letters escape me right now.

One of the things I remember about that time period was we had not long had our first color TV set; if we were lucky, we could get the channel to come in in color! Wow! But getting back to the subject..the video..I used to hear them advertise that video on the Midnight Jamboree; I loved that little snipit they played of Ernest singing "Walz Across Texas!" Interestingly enough, what I liked so much about that particular cut is that you can really hear Ernest Strumming out that "A" chord on his flat top!
