Emmons vs Earp

Perhaps some of the experts out there or the man himself can attest to the accuracy of this report in the country music column of the August 24, 1959 edition of Billboard magazine.

"Buddy Emmons, steel guitarist with Ernest Tubb, was making like Wyatt Earp recently and wound up shooting himself in the leg. Seems he was trying to sharpen up his fast draw at the time. Buddy concluded the session by digging the bullet from his leg all by himself."

Now I would expect Buddy Emmons to be that tough, but Man!! Can you imagine digging a bullet out of your own leg. Sure glad the bullet didn't hit something more important like his right hand.
