Ray Price Steeler

Post by Charlie Vaughn »

Who is playing steel with Ray Price these days? I have a chance to hear him in concert in Cherokee NC and I wondered who would be playing steel for him. Ray Price has always had some of the top steel players.
[This message was edited by Charlie Vaughn on 06 March 2003 at 09:10 PM.]

Last I heard it was Danny Mohammad. Subs include Jim Loessberg, Mike Cass, and a host of others. ALL GREAT PLAYERS. The Chief's used to the best. Image

Speaking of Danny, you should hear him play guitar! He's an outstanding jazz/be-bop player and has guitar chops out the ears on top of being a top notch steeler. He's a player's player and that's where he spends all of his time and it shows.

As far as other current subs, they also include Tommy Detamore and Steve Palousek. Monster players as well.

And of course, someone named Emmons all over the Time album ! I just heard it a couple of days ago, and it could be one of his best. He's what, 70 + ? Sounds about 40 to my ears! An awesome singer!!!

Craig, forget it. I was born in January also and eyes open or closed, doesn't matter, I still sound like me and nobody else.

I saw him about 10 years ago with Dave Musgrave. The list probably goes on and on....

Charlie, Danny Mohammad is playing steel for Ray Price. He was at the Llano Opry this past Saturday night (Mar.8th). I wasn't there because I was in Dallas having so much fun, but my wife was and she said it was a super show. Ray had three fiddles and you can imagine the rest.
