Who's This Cajun Steel Player?

Post by Michael Johnstone »

I got a cassette called "The Best of Cajun Country" recently at a truckstop in central Ca. It's a circa 1989 K-Tel compilation with Doug Kershaw,Frenchie Burke,Jo-El Sonnier and others but there's version of Diggy Liggy Lo by "Guy & Ralna" with a hellacious,feisty-ass E9 steel solo on it. Anybody know who that might be? I've heard Bobby Black and Sneaky Pete play a similar kind of thing but it doesn't sound like either of them. -MJ-

I believe Robbie Springfield played on some of Frenchy Burke's albums, lightning fingers.

If it's by Guy and Ralna, they're old Lawrence Welk regulars so it just could be steel work by Buddy Merrill another old Welk regular. Buddy's a very formidable player on both necks.....JH
