Doug Jernigan's "Country Jazz Steel Guitar"

Post by Greg Derksen »

Just spent a morning at Jeff Bradshaw's
steel shop & picked up a copy of Doug's CD titled
"Country Jazz Steel Guitar", its just awesome, wonderful jazz feel, He's such a great player, he makes difficult bebop lines
sound easy,
There's is one killer E9 Ballad on it, and another faster E9 type hoedown type, Both
just great, The guy is amazing,
Thanx to Doug, for making such a great CD,
Also thanx to Jeff Bradshaw up here in Canada
for recommending it, Your taste is as good as
your playing, Greg

greg, that is a great cd! doug gave me a copy to learn the bass lines....wow! i have a new respect for david smith esp on anthropology! and kenny malone, the job he does on summertime. we worked on anthropology, summertime, hal's that and makin the rounds...i would like to play skylark sometime. Not sure how i would stack this against the "jazz by jernigan" cd.. both are excellent....j by j is probably a little deeper into jazz. but yes, you have hit upon one of the finer cd's to have in your collection....congratulations!

I bought Jazz by Jernigan at Scotty's. What a nice display of musicianship. I'll have to get some more of him.

The E9 Ballad " Makin the rounds" is
worth the price alone, its moved up in my top ten E9 ballads of all time, he plays like the master he is,
Pat C, I think I'll snag J by J next month or so, Thanx for your insight.
Speaking of another E9 masterpiece of work
thats also moved up for me, is Mike Johnson's
solo he does on Daryl Singletary's (Spelling?) "I never go behind mirrors ".
Doug really is going through chord changes
so fluently and it "sounds" relaxed, Greg
