New Year Music Resolution

So what's your goal musically for 2003? I for one aim to work on some instrumentals that I can do with the band and have a regular practice schedule.

To be more focused while practising, and waste less time just fooling around on the guitar.
I find that remarkably hard, actually, and I can´t understand why.

I heard you had talked to Charlie. Maybe I can help you find someone. The trouble is the best replacement I ever found for Charlie when he takes off happens to be the drummer we have now. He's a hell of a drummer and he sings his socks off too.

As always, I plan to work on playing more C6. I have some instructional stuff to work with, but just applying it to songs I already know helps quite a bit. I also have been considering buying the Joe Wright Technique Bundles book. There was a thread about his instructional material and a few people spoke highly of this particular book. I also want to work on playing more jazz on guitar. I have talked to a friend of mine about starting a happy hour jazz band with a girl singer, string bass and a drummer. I hope it happens. And, beleive it or not I have been singing a little and I want to work up more songs.

Play more in tune ( or on pitch ) rather than more licks out of tune...

Anders..try using a practice checklist..write down all the items you really want to practice and stick to it..check off the items as you go...then wander around..but at least your primary material will have been covered. At the end of each month you can look back and see what you have done if anything at all...I do this and constantly change the list but it does keep me focused..The list contains scales, phrases, licks, excercises, songs....

First, I hope to be able to play out often so I´ll get more confident on the instrument. And I want to get better on C6. After my last band broke up (which played mostly modern country that I don´t care for anyway) I´ve got an offer from a western swing/old country band that focuses on Hank Thompson and similar stuff and I really dig that kind of music but there are some things, like certain chord progressions, that I don´t understand very well since I really don´t know a lot about jazz. To be able to play that music well enough to gig with it, is something to strive for.
For my own enjoyment, I wish I´ll finally figure out the Rhodes-Bud Boogie this year, that would be quite an achievement.
