Buddy Merril article in Vintage Guitar Magazine
Thought you might be intersted to know that the latest issue of VG has a nice article about Buddy Merril. Many of you remember his days from the Lawrence Welk show and how he would play his steel guitar on there ocassionally. This article doesnt talk about his steel playing as much as it does about his guitar playing and background, but it is an interesting article none-the-less.
I have several of his old albums and he once came to my small home town in Oklahoma as a part of the Lawrence Welk stars, and he played the guitar-great guitarist.

Buddy is a friend of mine who lives about 10 minutes from my house. He's a pretty private kinda guy who ocationally takes local gigs if the situation & money are right...mostly on steel. He gets a really great sound on his Push Pull D10 Emmons and Musicman amp! I've never heard any of his recordings on steel that have truly captured what a great sounding steel player he is.
