I tried one and it wasn't for me. The coating gets scuffed too easily. Possibly because I'm using it on bronze/phosphor strings? I have an old black rajah bar that I like, but I prefer a stainless steel bar. Jim Burden's bullet bars are my favorite round nose bars.

I own a Red Rajah and I alternate it with a BJS...I love 'em both! www.genejones.com

I've got a black one. They are slick on the strings, but don't drop it. The coating will chip off big time!

In addition to the red and black ones, Chuck also made a few gold colored ones, and 2 blue ones. Billy Phelps has one and I have the other.

So I have a red Rajah, a white zirconia bar, and a blue Rajah.

I gotta get a gig next July 4th.

I've had one for a few years now and have been satisfied with it. I also use a Twister that I bought from Don Curtis at Scotty's.

Many years ago, I was using the Black Rajah (tapered). It was great until one fateful day it hit a cement floor...end of story. I now use both the Red Rajah and the zirconia bars...both are super! It's been years since I used an actual steel (chrome) bar. I doubt I'll ever go back to using one.

I like the red rajah bar for acoustic steel, because it is quiet and fast on the strings. This bar is great when doing soft expressive songs. Very little noise. It is lighter than steel bars of the same size, because the center is drilled out. I noticed that stainless strings will chew on it a bit. I use nickel strings now.

For electric steel guitars I like a stainless steel bar for tone and sustain.

I like mine real good. They are slippery on the strings. It dont like stainless srtings though,as it will get grooves in it. But it will like the nickle strings. Im gonna get me a black one too, someday.

See my thread about different bars and surface noise in the "Pedal Steel" section.
