Jerry
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed listening to you on the Steel Radio concert last Saturday. Having been away from steel guitar for some years I have not heard you play outside the context of the Buck Owens Band. I appreciated the way you blended new, inovative sounds with familiar country themes.
I most enjoyed the orchestral piece you did with the MIDI accompaniment. I am curious as to what MIDI pickup you are using on your steel. I have done some MIDI tracking on guitar, but am unfamiliar with any steel setups, other than the old Steel Driver system.
Thanks again for the nice music.

Thanks for your comments on the show. I hope we will hear from others about it with their comments. I know Scotty, and everyone connected with steelradio.com want to make it the best they can...It's not without snags, but each radio show is getting better.

In regard to the midi. I use an old IVL Pitchrider that I beta tested and then endorsed. It was the same unit I had sent to Buddy Emmons in 1986 from IVL in Canada. The difference in my unit is that I have a beta set of chips that were provided by IVL, that no one else had in their unit. It allows for a little better tracking. I use this unit to replace the instruments I don't have access to and then selected notes, phrasing, and placement within the tracks to sound like real parts and how per say a piano would sound and perform. Sometimes, I don't use any picks with certain patches. You will hear the beginning stages of this within my new CD. I have about 20 other tracks, including the symphony track you heard that I have not released. I know this is a different approach to steel guitar..but I'm hearing from many others that they are ready for this...I simply view this as a tool in the box to be used under certain situations. I still love shuffles and ballads with the natural sound of the instrument...

I will make available a sample of some of these tracks to anyone who would like to hear them..I'll warn you, they are different, but not blazing and unattached to
commercial music...

I support this instrument and ANYONE who plays it in whatever style or type of music they play...

Thanks again for YOUR support and allowing me to be a part of the steel community...Theres more coming...

My best,
