Borrowed Money in the Fort Worth Stockyards is one place I know of that has a live band on Tuesdays from 7-11. Currently Jake Hooker's dad Tommy is playing there and Jim Snider plays there also. Both play the good old traditional country.

Send me an email to let me know where you'll be and we can swap cell phone numbers and hopefully we can get together. Maybe I can even play Smiley Roberts for the night and be your tour guide Image

Mike Crow moved his Radio deal to the Finish Line last Tue, from Borrowed Money. It was a packed house. They have Carp on steel, Reggie & Chad Rueffer, Reggie Brown, and Wayne Bennett. Many will remember Wayne from the TSGA shows. Also, Reggie B. was the bass player Hogue would have with him when he did the steel shows. Jake Hooker subbed for Reggie last Tue. They do this every Tue from 6-10p. It's on the west side of Ft. Worth. Lots of steel as Carp is pretty much the featured musician.

Borrowed Money ends theirs a little later, so you can catch whomever is there on their last set or 2. Also, if Tommy is there, he usually has Dickie Overby playing, if he's in town. Justn Trevino has been in the rotation also. I've played it a few times, but check before you hit town as their crowds are dropping some.

JC, I imagine you'll fine Carp's playing quite acceptable.

Since I'm in north Fort Worth, feel free to contact me for any extra logistical support y'all might need (such as a crashable couch. :-)

Thanks guys for all the suggestions and offers of couches, tours, etc. I'll definitely try to get out to see Carp and figure the rest out as we get closer to the date. Thanks, Malcolm.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I had a great trip thru Dallas, and did indeed get to hear Gary Carpenter; man, what a great player he is! Great chops and super taste to go along with it. Whether it's trad. country or swing, Carp's got it down real well. The whole band was tight and fun. You enter that room and you just know you're in Texas now! Image

And it was great to meet Danny N. and to see Jim Smith again, and Ronnie Miller was the best host anyone could ask for; we had a great time hangin' together for the day. Thanks for everything, guys. You're the best.

Jim, it was great seeing you again too. Too bad we intimidated Carp so much by having you, Ronnie Miller, Danny Naccarato, and me all in a row watching him play. Image He seemed to pull it off okay though! Image
