Man...no one ought to be able to sound THAT good!!! I didn't get to hear the whole show tonight, but what I did hear was absolutely stunning! I believe if you could look up the words "incredible musician" in a dictionary it would certainly HAVE to have Buddy's picture as the main reference!
I don't know which guitar he was using tonight...I'm guessing the Legrande III. Anyway, whichever one it was, it had THAT tone!
Also, the song the guy sung about the steel guitar was pretty cool too.
Thanks Buddy, for some of the best steel playing tonight I've EVER heard!
You are absolutely right, it was incredible. "Turn To Fall" was out of this world. I can't wait for this one to come up on archives. I need to listen, again. Johnny and Buddy, what a team...or is it Buddy and Johnny? Pat
My wife and I just pulled in the drive 15 min. ago (it's 8:30am) getting back from this show, it was KILLER! Well worth the trip, great fun was had by all (Smiley was passing out hats again) Great tone and playing out of Buddy's Legrand III and his new Standel amp. Buddy once again proved he's DA MAN! I think I'll get some sleep now! zzzz
My wife and I were also in attendance and it was great to see and hear Buddy again. I also finally got to meet Wayne Yakes in person! And Jerry Fessenden! It was wonderful to see SRO for John, a true legend and great friend. Justin Trevino was in his usual fine form. BTW, the guest artist who sang "They Stole My Steel Guitar" and "Waltz of the Wind" is my good friend from Aschendorf, Germany, Hermann Lammers-Meyer. Hermann plays steel and fronts his own band there called "The Emsland Hillbillies", whom I have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with on many occasions. Hermann is recording a new album in Nashville this week that will include Buddy and Pete Wade among others. Hermann has a number of records out that feature Jimmy Day and Buddy (sometimes together!) in a big way. He also hosts a radio show that is helping to keep great country music alive on the airwaves in Europe. Just a thrill for us to be there.......!
This show is finally on the E.T. Midnight Jamboree website. If you've not heard it yet, it's a MUST hear!!! Heck, even if you have heard it, it's definitely worth listening to again, and again, and again, and etc... http://www.etrecordshop.com/mj.htm
