you betcha. Jimmy is a fine steeler. He laid out for quite a while due to business interest I believe but now he is back. BTW the guitar player was our band player and had worked with us the night before in Belton Tx. Great one! CC

Jimmy is a great guy and back in the 50's and 60's was one of the top steel players in Central TX. Doug Sahm and Bert Rivera were fans of Grabowske.

I heard a tape, made at the Skyline Club in 1966, of JG, Ray Tesmer on guitar, Jerry Lightsey on bass, and Joe Villegas on drums... awesomely good western swing!

Jimmy made a bunch of records with Jesse James and Cactus Pryor (4-Star label) from 1949-51 -- some of them have been reissued on CD on the Krazy Kat label. Yep, no doubt one of the best (and unsung) steel guitarists to call Texas home.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention as a PS to Herb's message above -- Jimmy basically taight Doug Sahm how to play. Doug never mentioned this in interviews, but Jimmy related this story to me (in a very modest way).

Hey all,
Lets revive this post! Jimmy now has a computer so lets try to sign him up. Herb maybe you could call him up and ask him to participate here. I'll bet he can tell stories from the old days like Jody Carver!
