Finnally, I've started my own Band!

Post by Nick Reed »

Well I've taken the plunge. . . . .getting tired of doing their way. Now I can do it my way. Went this week and bought my own PA system, got me a lead guitar player whose the front-man. . .under my direction of course, good Bass Player-Vocalist and a decent Drummer. And they can play what I want to play.
4-4 Shuffles, lots of Ray Price, Johnny Bush, Paycheck, Haggard, Conway Twitty, Faron Young, Brooks & Dunn, Moe Bandy. You know, the stuff I call COUNTRY MUSIC.
I'm just so tired of just being everybody elses Steel player and playing off the wall CRAP I don't like. I told my boys going in, if they want to play in my band. . .they gotta do it my way, I call the shots. I book the gigs, and they generally have 1 or 2 paying gigs every weekend with me. They seem to like that better than having nowhere to play and playing for free. Nick,
I don't know about you but being the boss ain't all it's cracked up to be after a while. That's just something I don't want to do anymore. I'm not the band leader where I'm playing but I'm the guy that finds all the sit-ins and this week I had to replace the drummer. Haven't had any trouble over that move yet but the best part about this is I just tell them the boss told me to do it and it lets me off the hook..perfect!

Wishing you loads of good luck and well wishes with your new band. I'm sure it will truly be a "Country" gig. Keep us informed as to where your playing and mabey I can get out to see and hear youa'll.

What are you naming the Band?Maybe the forumites could come up with a name.Since many people are not educated in "Real" Country Music maybe it could be "Country 101" Ed Naylor Steel Guitar Works.

Good luck Nick. It's a lot of headaches, but "calling the shots" has it own rewards.

I hope it's successful for you.
I look forward to your posts about it.
