Anyone that played PSG on a Cake album is alright w/ me! I actually was just listening to the "Fashion Nugget" album, and the PSG intro on one of the latter tunes on the album(She'll come back to me") is so pretty, but mixed way too far back for my taste. Great playing my freind!!!!! Got any good stories from those sessions?

Thanks for your interest in the Cake recordings. That session for Fashion Nugget was a breeze --a "piece of cake" actually
Cake's singer John McCrea & I had several phone calls to discuss what the steel should do in that song before the session began, which is always nice. John picked me up from the airport in some old beat-up Corolla and bought me a sandwich from Subway on the way to the studio. I was in & out of there in about a half hour when it came time to record! Very fun, easy session --those guys are real good folks. Fans of steel, too!
Super simple steel playing, as you can tell, but I think it works nicely in the song.
The next album was a different story...
Cake were and are a special band and a great group of musicians. I always enjoy talking about them.
OK give it up, dont leave us hanging! Whats the scoop on "the next album"? What happens to a bands studio process after they have a hit song and a video on MTV? Feel free to email me if confidentiality is needed!
Always loved Cake, the trumpet and unsophisticated guitar tones are wonderfull together.
Ever do any live shows w/ em?
Let is know!
