Radio show - looking for your suggestions

Post by Greg Simmons »

Hey folks;

I’m lining up to produce/DJ a hard country – and its offshoots - radio show on our local university station - don't tell anybody, but it will actually be a stealth steel guitar show disguised as a classic country show Image

I’m wanting at some point to do a feature on the pedal steel, sort of a musical history/chronology and obviously songs like “Slowly” , “The Bridge Washed Out”, “Together Again”, plus definitely some Buddy Emmons Black Album stuff will be a must.

Can y’all suggest others that may be appropriate for inclusion?, I’m looking for songs that are the real “totems” if you will, that can tell the musical story of the pedal steel.

Thanks Image

"I'll Come Runnin'", "Nightlife", and "Someday Soon" should be in there somewhere, too.

Anything off Vince's "The Key", Rodney Crowell's "Diamonds & Dirt", Charley Pride "In Persone - Live at Panther Hall", Merle's "Live At Billy Bob's Texas", early Buck Owens -- some already named.

Classic doesn't have to be old...does it.

Doug Jernigan - "Orange Blossom Special," "Sugarfoot Rag," etc.

Remember that Doug recorded his "Uptown To Country" record for Emmons Guitar Co. in 1970 a few months after Buddy's "Black Album."
