Missing steel
I am not sure this is the proper place to place this message but I will try it. I would appreciate it if all of you folks would kind of keep an eye out for my steel. It is a Marlen S-10D Serial number is 174791. I bought it from Leonard May 4, 1974 and it was supposed to be shipped to me from Phoenix AZ early March of this year. My amp arrived but the steel has not been heard from yet by me or Northwest airlines. I would really appriciate any information I can get. Northwest denies any liability for it since the guy that shipped it did not insure it. Thank you very much.

Gere., my golfing, attorney friend, tells me that if the shipper has proof that Northwest took this freight for delivery, they are responsible for it..there are tracking numbers on each item shipped..the insurance is to establish worth..without that, you will have a problem getting it's true value from the airlines but they will have to settle this with you...it is probably sitting in a warehouse without an address lable on it...if there is "no proof of shipment" the shipper is liable......tom

Tom, thanks for the reply and information. I have all kinds of information from Northwest in Nashville where they supposedly tried to track it but they refuse to even talk to me about it. Even after I told them that DOT informed me that they are indeed liable even without insurance.The claims manager got down right rude with me and hung up in my face.I figured it would be a waste of money to get a lawyer because they would probaly take a third or half of anything I got from the airlines so I just decided to mark it up to experience. But I still would appreciate it everyone would keep an eye peeled for my steel. Again I appreciate your help.

I had to pick my wife up at the Airport on tuesday. Her flight was delayed getting in, so I had an hour to kill. Since you can't wait any place but the baggage claim area and it's outside where I could have a smoke as I waited, that's where I went to kill the time.
When I got to the baggage area, it was empty of people, but on the carousel was a sight that made my heart sink! There were three Fender guitar cases that were strapped together and an Anvil case about the size of a Deluxe Reverb that just kept going around and around and around.
I kept my eye on "somebody's" gear for the next 30 min's or so, around and around.
Several flights came in, the baggage came out, got picked up and still those guitars and amp were left on the belt, around and around they went.
Just as they announced my wife's flight getting in, a girl in an airline uniform came out of a door and checked the tag's on those poor lost guitars & amp. She got on her radio and a guy came with a cart and they took them inside the baggage office.
I was able to leave the airport feeling better, at least they had them in the office, but I'm still wondering if some Tele player ever got his guitars and amp back.
