Thanks to Forumites Joel Glassman and Mike Ihde

Post by Jim Cohen »

Just want to say a big 'thanks' to forumites Joel Glassman and Mike Ihde for backing me up on Monday night for the show at Johnny D's in Boston. Joel was instrumental (pun intended) in getting the whole show organized and did a great job on fiddle, especially when he doubles his fiddle solo with his voice, like Johnny Gimble. Mike, who teaches guitar at Berklee College, is a killer guitarist, as most of you know, and brought along Dan Bowden, also from the Berklee guitar faculty, who's a dynamite swing player. August Watters (who teaches ear training at Berklee) was on bass and Tim Eagan on drums. Everyone played their buns off. We had a great crowd and a great time playing together. Hope we can do it again sometime, fellas. Thanks for everything,

Sorry I couldn't make it to Boston Jimbeaux. Too many relatives to visit and too little time. I really enjoyed your set at the Mass Bash though, killer stuff! Image

It was a fine show Jim, and indeed Mike and the band were right in time the whole way. Everyone seemed at home playing tunes as varied as Roly Poly, Surfer Girl, and Yardbird Suite.

I hope to hear you'll be coming to the Boston area to play again sometime soon (Someday Soon?).

Thanks, Jim and Rob. And, indeed, I will be playing just outside Boston, at Frank Caruso's steel show at the French Club in Waltham, Mass., on Sunday, Oct 13th. The show starts at 1pm. I expect both Joel and Mike will be on my set. Mike, of course, will also do his usual lovely job on lap steel. Hope to see you there, Rob. Thanks for coming to Johnny D's. It was nice to see a few familiar faces in the crowd!
