OK, I am a moron in this department...I have a six string Gibson Lap Steel and I have it tuned to a C6th. Of course I had to change the strings to accomodate this tuning and all that. QUESTION: If I wanted to tune my new DOBRO to a C6th (which I DO want to do), would I use the same string sizes as I have on the Lap Steel? I don't really know how to think about this one...anybody help a rookie out?

Sure.
Brad's Page of Steel (check links above) will show you everything you need for tunings and string gauges. Brad is the moderator over in no Peddlers section.
There are several C6 tunings. I would recommend the following because minor(ACE) and minor 7 (GACE) chords are easy to grab.
You also have a root and a 5th on the bottom 2 strings. There are many answers.
For the Dobro, C6 will work fine. But, if you want that low Dobro growl, tune it G6.
You could tune both instruments to G6
