Paul,
What a treat to hear from you.I used to listen to you and your brother Dee play at the south end of Horsetooth reservoir in Ft collins Colorado when you and Dee were attending CSU. You had one of the best bands to ever gig there with you on Steel and Dee on guitar . I never met you, but your brother Dee who IMHO was another awesome steel player played Steel for my band after you moved to Texas and played for Johnny Bush. Dee used to play tapes you had sent to him when you were with Johnny and he was really proud of his brother and always would say to me" you think I'm good, you aught to hear my brother. Dee sold me my first Steel and I beleive it was your first Sho-Bud, and he got me started playing Steel. I met your family right after your wedding in Cannon City. Your father gave me some real good advise I never forgot about being a professional musician. It is good to see you post and wish I could hear you again. I spoke with Dee a few years ago and he was not playing Steel anymore. Well I better stop my rambling for now. Give my best to your family and specially Dee. I hope you find a band to gig with while there in your home town.

Hi Paul,

There is not much going on out here anymore. Bands are scarce and so are clubs to play in. A few VFW and the like once in a while. I will be playing some gigs while you are here. Give me a call. I am in the Colo Spgs book. Hope to get to meet you while you are here.

Paul,
Call Dick Meis in Denver and ask him. http://www.dickmeis.com

Call Russ at the Music Exchange in Colo. Springs and ask him (719) 578-0883

Also, catch Dick's shows on Mon. in downtown Denver at the Cricket on The Hill! You'll like it. It's kind of a long drive - but easy on I-25.

btw, Paul, Bill - did you all know Joe Byers? He was a good player around here years ago. I had the pleasure of jamming with him and his son Keith a few times many years ago. Also, that place on the south shore of Horse Tooth burned down. The old "Jack Daniels" place is still there but not much C&W in town anymore. Only one or two places regularly. Rare to find a band with a steel player in any of the clubs.

Not much going on in Flagstaff either, that's why I moved. Not much going on here either but at least it doesn't snow here and it's beautiful. Maybe your son in Flag can start something. Gary.
