Lloyd Green at ISGC

Post by Drew Howard »

I'm blown away by Lloyd Green's playing at ISGC. I've been listening in on steelguitar.com.

May have to splurge on the Lloyd Green & Tommy White video.

I've been in a rut lately, this got my juices going again.

cheers,

Drew Howard

Drew,
I Drive to St. Louis from Mississippi
on Labor Day Weekend to see and hear LLoyd
play. He uses the most in-depth thought
processes to relay his music to others.
Amazing does not cover his performance on
Friday night and his performance with
Don Helms opened my eyes even further.
IMHO- Melody,touch, and tone describes
everything Lloyd played this weekend.
He doesn't rely on the latest innovations
in equipment or on anyone elses ideas.
I had a GREAT weekend! Image

Every performer there put their heart into their effort and I don't feel anyone was any better than anyone else, HOWEVER....
Over the years I've been able to play tunes with a close likeness of various top artists with the exception of Lloyd Green! I've never been able to play a single instrumental or come anywhere near to the tone that he displays so beautifully!
I was truly impressed with the performances of all the big names as well as those by several of our own Forumites....
LLOYD GREEN, this year, just as in 1978, is the act I will remember for many years to come. Such a "special sound"......not like everyone else in the room. A personable man with many of those human body language indicators that endear one to him and his playing.
YES! Lloyd Green is the act I will remember. I was so impressed I visited Scottys room full of used guitars and attempted to see if I could get Lloyd's sound out of that beautiful green LDG model that was on display. Had I succeeded, I'd likely have left town with it in my pocket as opposed to any one of the newer models or the other manufacturers.
