Meet Cameron Parsons

Post by David Pennybaker »

Image

I had the wonderful opportunity to meet both Cameron Parsons and Steve "Alonzo" Walker (both SteelGuitarForum participants, though they lurk too much Image ) a few weeks ago here in Houston.

That's a picture of Cameron (posted with his permission). One of Steve (and not just his hands this time Image ) will be posted shortly, as soon as he says it's OK to do.

Steve plays for David Ball.

Cameron was playing for the first time with Jason Allen, a local act in this area. Cameron said he'd listened to the CD's a few days before. Other than him saying that, I'd have never though he hadn't played with them for quite some time.

Well, and the fact that during sound-check, the other guys in the band said something about "we don't need the pedal steel in our monitors". Or maybe the always do that to the steel player? ???

At any rate, the band sounded great, and we actually got to hear some fine steel guitar playing during this act (as well as with David Ball).

Keep up the good work, Cameron. I hope to see you again real soon.

Oh, and for those interested in seeing some more pictures from those performances, click the link in my signature.

You'll have to scroll past all the Wilkinsons pictures, and all the pictures from the Texas Opry Jamboree. It's about half-way down the scrollable list on the left-hand side. Right below Jessica Andrews, and above Pinmonkey.

If you've been to the site recently, you'll probably have to hit REFRESH to get these events to show up. One day maybe I'll figure out the HTML to make that happen automatically.

Thanks for the kind words, David. Maybe next time I see you, I won't have to rush off to another gig, and I'll be able to visit more.

Alonzo was a super nice guy. I didn't get to hear his performance with David Ball, but I heard him during sound check. He sounded great.

Ya'll be sure to check out David's website. It has some cool pictures.
[This message was edited by Cameron Parsons on 02 September 2002 at 03:52 PM.]

Hey David, Good shot of Cameron. Cameron, when did you start playing an Emmons? Last time I saw you I believe you were playing that red white and blue EMCI. Nice looking Emmons though.

See Ya

It's good to hear from you, Earl. I bought that Emmons back in May. You can't tell in the picture, but it is one of the short keyhead LeGrandes. I really like it.

I still have the EMCI, but I keep it set up at home for practice.

OK "Little Brother" don't have to go out and buy a bigger hat following all these compliments. On a serious note, there are two steel guitar players in the Angleton ,Tx. area that will blow you away. Cameron Parsons and Jody Cameron. Come to one of the Southeast Texas Steel Guitar Club Meetings and listen to Cameron and a host of other good players. See you down the road, Jody.

Hi Cameron,
After reading the Forum since it's existance, I finally become a member. Everyone is right, they need to come hear you pick. You get better everytime I hear you. You still need to sit in on my Carter. It needs some of your hot chops to break it in.
