If they could have gotten Hal's guitar to sound good it might have been allright. It so thin and tinny I left after the first two songs. My ears couldn't take it. They play good though. Maybe Hal should have just played a real dobro?

The whole amplification thing with the Pedabro was odd.
First of all, I noticed it had a (routed out) spot for a pickup and a jack output, but it was missing or removed.
Second, if anything ever needed a sound check, this did. Did they think it would amplify with just a mike over it? (it didn't)
As to the performance, it was amazing to hear and certainly was a nice break/addition to all the steel playing. How they managed to play all those tight, three part choruses together was amazing!
I would have preferred a more well-known repertoire of songs, though....I didn't recognize anything they played.

Buy the CD like I did. It's great and so was their performance!

I talked with Paul Franklin Sr. about the pedabro amplification. The pick-up had been removed and they intended using a microphone. Unfortunately, there was some miscommunication and the sound team did not realize that the pedabrob was seup up acoustically. They used one directitional mic for Mike Auldridge's dobro with great results. I'm sure if they had it to do over again they'd stop the show for a minute and install a 2nd directional.

The sound team did a fantastic job all weekend. The Resocasters acknowledged the "different equation" they present for the sound guys.

There may have been a few sound (amplification) problems but where I was corner stage right, it was fabulous. This is a happening Hef,Hal and Mike wouldn't need any amplification in a smaller room. Simply fabulous and we need more.Mikes right support is all this act needs.Scotty out did himself with the great lineups this year.
[This message was edited by Joe Casey on 02 September 2002 at 07:10 PM.]

Mike is right, the CD is fantastic. The arrangements are really inventive. I especially like Charmaine. I have never heard that acoustic before.
