Ricky Davis with Heather Myles

Post by Terry Downs »

I played with a band that opened for Heather Myles last night and Ricky was playing steel. We had a nice visit. He is an awesome picker. He's got more licks that Carter's got liver pills! I hate playing steel in front of somebody that good! I thought I would pass this along and wish him the best with Heather.

Regards,
Terry

Yes, I met Bob. What a nice guy. A great picker too. He behaved. But I get a feeling if him and I spent much time together a great deal of behavioral problems would be noted.

Hey Terry; thanks for the nice words....and you ain't no slouch yourself my brother....great playing on your part.
Sorry you had to come up and sit in a chair just two feet from my amp to hear...ah...ha......but Some things have to be that way and unfortunatly the sound system was less than desirable for Heather.
I'm playing the Mucky Duck in Houston on Fri. night with her then Waxahatchie,Tx on Sat. evening.....and that will be it and it's been fun playin'....and Bob(Kevin's Brother..ha)has been a big help with me having never heard the songs before. But just now went over them here at the house and I'ma kickin' some a$$ the next two nights..... Image Image
OH and one more thing I have to say about Heather Myles. This girl can just flat out sing her a$$ off.....on CD and on Stage.....and I can't say that about very many singers today AT ALL.....She writes a great song and sings them so perfectly and is True to Real Country Honky Tonk music.....Gotta love that.
See ya down the road.

Ricky, you're truly a lucky man. Going from Dale to Heather, man, I hate you! In my opinion you've just played with the best male and female singer/songwriters out there today. My honky tonk band Neon Tan does a couple of Heather's tunes, and obviously I play a ton of Dale's stuff in Ty Braddock's band.
[This message was edited by Chris Forbes on 23 August 2002 at 03:55 AM.]

Ricky: I always read anything and everything about you and I hope this won't be too far off-topic. From another thread: Have you ever heard Jimmy Day play Rose City Chimes on his Blue Darlin' ??

Awww; Sad to say Ricky, but I don't !! I still have Liberty Drive stuck in the back of my head and I may be wrong but, some of the breaks Bobby and Buddy used on RCC remind me of LD. Julian Tharpe used a lot of chimes and BE's chime/work on Greensleeves will always haunt me and Jerry & Kayton's chime displays on the old C6th were works of art, but you wouldn't say Jimmy overused chimes in his repetoire.
Still, I would have liked to hear him play it, just for the record !! Image Image Image Image
