Steeler for Lee Ann Womack (and Willie Nelson)

Post by Ron Page »

I came by some dandy tickets for their show in Cincinnati tomorrow night and was wondering who's playing steel on the road for Lee Ann.

Does Willie even travel with a steel? If so, who might it be.

Thanks!

Hey Ron, the last time I saw Willie on TV [with Sheryl Crow] the steel player LOOKED like the gentleman that used to play with Tammy Wynette...sorry... don't know his name of if he's a regular part of Mr. Nelson's entourage, but I believe I've seen him on his shows several times...but I defer to anyone that has the definitive answer.

Lee Ann's steeler would be my friend Rusty Danmyer A great player, I think you will enjoy him on his Zumsteel.

It is Rusy. a great steel player. He used to play for Martina McBride. I just saw him playing on Broadway a couple of months ago with Rod Jensen on guitar doing steel guitar and guitar harmonies on Johnny Paycheck tunes.

Thanks guys. Glad to hear Willie has a steeler.

Did anyone happen to see the show on CMT of LeAnn where the band was all acoustic. Rusty did one heck of a job on reso (read "dobro"). Great player to say the least.

Keith,

This past Saturday the band I play with (Kevin Fowler Band) playeda show at the Smirnoff Music Center in Dallas with Lee Ann Womack (along with Willie Nelson and Hank III). Anyway, halfway thru Lee Ann's set she does a "solo" section. During this part most of her band is in the stage wings. During that time I got a chance to visit with Rusty. What a nice guy to talk to. Keep on pickin'!
