Trinity Sessions w/ Cowboy Junkies

Post by Al Vescovo »

Can anyone tell me who the steel player was on that recording? The Junkies write and produce some very original sounding music. I've bought a lot of their CD's, although they don't use steel guitar anymore. Steel guitar compliments and I think
adds a real dimension to their music. maybe they'll take a request. Thanks Al.

Kim Deschamps. Great player. Uses no picks, I think. He played on another Cowboy Junkies CD (maybe more) and then played with Blue Rodeo for a few years. They're a talented band, but IMO, Kim was the only one who could play a decent lead. He added a HELLUVA lot to the band, but it seemed he was being used less and less on later CDs, and then he left under less than amicable conditions (or so I heard).

I think he's in Texas playing with Joe Ely and other folks these days.

Kim's from my town, Hamilton, Ontario.

Last I heard he's with Charlie Robison, probably mispelled.

He was on the televised Opry with them a few months ago. Now playing a Blond Carter D-10, still pickless. http://www.steelguitar.com/webpix/playpix/kimdeschamps.html

He used an MCI in the Blue Rodeo days.

His web site hasn't been updated in a while. http://www.kimdeschamps.com
