Does Anyone Remember This Song?

Post by SCOTT TYLER »

A buddy of mine remembers a country song from the 60's called "I'm looking at the world thru the windshield of my cab", and doesn't remember who recorded it or where to find it. I thought it was "I'm Looking at the world thru a windshield" by Del Reeves but he said it is not. Can anyone help?? Thanks.

My guess is "Kay" by John Wesley Ryles. Guy who's now a cab driver gets his old flame as a fare.

As I recall...

<i>"Guitars, organs, horns, violins and pianos, how they play.

Grinding out the latest sounds from Music City, U.S.A.

Kaye, although I know I lost you to the swingin' music world,

I still have pictures of the happy times we had, oh oh ohhh,

Kaye I'm livin', yet I'm dyin', staring out at Music City from my cab."</i>

Del Reeves and Commander Cody also had a lot of plays with their cuts.

As usual, Herbster is right.

Donnie, on Daryle Singletary's version, he's changed it to "Fiddles, STEEL guitars, and piano's, how they play". Gotta like a guy that promotes steel like that!!!

I do, Lem...I really do! I guess maybe the J.W.R. version came out when Danny Davis And The Nashville Brass was on the charts.

Scott, you are going to love this CD! On "Kay" the original artist John Wesly Ryles sings harmony and the great Mike Johnson does super steel and pedabro. The entire CD is excellent
