I understand Reba doesn't really have the best rep as being a gem to work for, and I'm sorry to hear folks lost their jobs, but this isn't like she fired everyone and hired a different band for less money-She's got the lead in "Annie Get Your Gun", one of the hottest shows on Broadway (and one that tends to lead to other things)-and everyone knows she has the acting bug, or should know anyway. That's where she's been concentrating her efforts the last few years. Hell, if I was her, I'd have done the same thing-that's a once in a lifetime part...and by the way, if you get a chance to see this on Broadway, or catch the road production, do it. It's a great show with LOTS of great songs.

JB
that doesn`t help friend of mine who just bought a house counting on that job and now she filed for a bankrupcy and has her dad living with her helping her to pay the house payment.Reba is just like many other artist`s who will drop guy`s like a hot potatoe if that would save a few bucks. You can try to defend her but in my book that is BS.As far as I understand she is next to Pam Tillis who is known as a very shady employer in Nashville.

p.s.
I`am not interested to see nor to hear Reba

I have a very good friend who played with Reba in the early '90's. She never interacted with the band, yet pretended to be best friends on stage. After a couple of years, he got fired, we think for a receding hair line.
She's a phony from what I've heard. It's a shame because stars don't have to be like that. Look at Vince Gill for instance.
Terry Crisp is a monster player. Listen to the stuff he did with Ricky Skaggs, tunes like "I'm Tired" and "That's Why I'm Walkin'" from the album "Comin' Home to Stay". You can't play better than that! He's one of my heroes for sure. Joe

I was just trying to say that being a road musician is probably a lot like being a football coach-It ain't IF you're going to get fired, it's WHEN you're going to get fired. Not sticking up for Reba, just saying I'm not surprised given the gig she got.

Terry will have another gig quickly, I'm sure.

Yes JB,I agree,it`s just WHEN.I also heard that one of the best guy`s to work for is Billy Ray Cirrus.Guy`s are saying that he is like a one of the guys and great to work for.Another ones would be Garth B. and Alan J. who treat their guys with respect. But that`s about it.Much more offten I hear about bad things.Friend of mine worked for Martin Michael Murfey for years and got fired three days before a big christmas tour, only because M.M.M. hired some guy from TX who asked less money to play.My friend end up taking the whole thing to the Nashville musician union and he got a third of what he was supposed to make if working on the tour.Sad.Only "WHEN", yes.And I agree that she made good decision taking the gig in NY but she could have been fair to her stuff and band and give them little time or figure out nicer way to do that, not just drop everyone like a hot potatoe because her "ego" butt wanted to be a Broadway star. And I`m sure that musician great as a Terry will get hooked up with a better outfit anyway. She was doing POP lately anyway and there was not too much room for Terry`s virtuos steel playing. He rocks, and I wish him the best.Friend of mine wanted to introduce me to Terry but they all got fired so fast that I never had a chanse to meet him.Too bad.

Terry played on Shot Jackson's last release, a CD, "For the Last Time". Shot played his 7-string ShoBro. Mighty good playing on both accounts.

I heard about Reba's way of doing business back in the 80's from musician friends of mine. She does pay cheap. I would only look at working for her as a stepping stone or a fill in gig until something better comes along.
I met Terry years ago when he came thru my hometown. At that time he was working with Jack Green and Jean Seely. He is a tasty picker. I enjoy his work.

Joe Goldmark - thanks for mentioning that Ricky Skaggs album, I have old cassette of that and listened to it a ton back when it was first out, but hadn't for years. Your comment prompted me to rifle thru boxes of old cassettes and found it on Sunday - what a great collection of songs that is, and the Terry Crisp steel is indeed awesome! In the liner notes, I see that Lloyd Green also contributed steel on 3 songs. Great, great Skaggs album start to finish. - Neil

I have seen Terry play in Utrecht -The Netherlands- with Ricky Skaggs; it must have been 12-15 years ago and I can still remember that. He is a very good player. It is a pity that we hardly hear from him!
