New Lefty to Forum
Hi Everyone!!!
I don't mean to be long winded, but i finally get to come aboard.I've gained so much valuable information from everyone already.Well, let me start by saying i'm one of those Lefty's. I just turned 50 in March.I've played guitar and bass in different bands for 35 years. But my first love has always been the pedal steel. My only obsticle for years was i needed to play left handed. You know the old phrase, you can't teach an old dog new tricks.I would just like to give Freeman Cowgar, a big public thank you for making my dream come true.He was the only one i could find that would make me a true left handed model, that i wouldn't have to sell the farm to buy.Freeman is a true professional, and more than that, a gentleman in every way.He has been very helpful, and built a fine guitar, that looks good, and stays in tune very well.I know i'm just a beginner, but i feel i'm coming along alright. I may never be good enough to play out, but at home ,i can play with anyone i want to. I just have to turn on the cd's. i'm having a ball !!!!!! I'm planning on going to my first convention in Nov. in Conn.
Maybe some of you might know some of these old frinds of mine. Some of them are deceased now, but they were great steel players i had the privalge of playing with over the years.
( Danny Heart-deceased ) John Knarr- deceased ) Audie Arliss - deceased )Audie was Emmons dealer for years, here in upstate N.Y. Also i want to say hi to Jimmy (steel)Duvall. We played together for years.I'm sorry for saying so much the first time, but i've just been itching to get in on the fun. I'm proud to be associated with such a fine group of artists.Thank you for the help so far.By the way, are there any other true left handed pickers out there?
I would like to hear from you.I don't think there are many of us.
Keep Steelin,

Welcome, Gary, and good to hear you got a lefthanded steel. I remember when you couldn't get a lefthanded guitar of any kind, so maybe things are looking up for us southpaws. Some of us are irreversibly lefthanded--I was lucky and got hold of a keyless Endecott 3 floor 4 knee levers for a good price. Bought a Regal dobro the other day, which is easy to switch over, and am having a ball with it.

Someone should put together a "Lefty Steel Jam" where we all could enjoy the "righty privilege" of trying a steel "Other than our own"

Another lefty, checking in.
Ed Fulawka took my new lefty S-10 to the Michigan, Cahttanooga and one other show in April. Don't know if any lefties tried it out or not. Below is a pic of my 1970 Fulawka. First lefty Ed ever built.
