Sincere Thanks to a special Lady

In this day of rude and uncaring service organizations and the lack, it is a breath of Spring to find the "old fashioned" and wonderful ways of treating a consumer like it used to be!

Such is the case that I experienced yesterday and the day before. It is most apropos since it concerns a great man of the steel guitar--Little Roy Wiggins.

Here's the story.

Some time back on this forum, a thread contained the link to "The Record Lady's All Time Favorite Country" recordings. I found this website to be a bit of heaven on Earth. For those of us who date back a long long time, it brought back much nostalgia and euphoria to hear songs and steel players; and their incredible classics.

Hundreds of original recordings that will live forever. Many of them featuring steel players. And most in surpisingly good quality yet. A few scratches here and there but overall, "'Jes fine!"

Day before yesterday, I was downloading some of these incredible recordings of the past, and would you believe I think I found the ONLY recording (on this website), that was not original. Now this would not have made much difference, what with 99 and 44/100% of them original.

BUT this one broke my heart. Why? you say? Well, this recording has much meaning to my wife and I. It was "our song" all the years we were mostly apart before we got married.

That song was Little Roy Wiggins' (Eddy Arnold backing

), "I'll Hold You in my Heart 'til I Can Hold You in my Arms". Of course it fit our situation perfectly and we have loved this song all these 50+ yrs of marriage and the years before while we were dating.

So, hearing this song would have brought tears I am sure. Well, it did, but for the wrong reason. It was NOT the original. But a recording made later when Eddy was trying to divest himself from what "brung him to the show". And my heart broke when I heard it.

So I wrote the Lady who owns the website. All I knew was Rose. I told her the story.

Well, within 12 hours, she wrote me first an apology and then a second letter asking me to check out the site again. She had changed it to the original. Praise Jesus! What a wonderful thing for her to do for just one person.

Thank you Rose, my dear Lady! You made a couple of old people cry as we listend and relived those wonderful days of yesteryear--with Little Roy, Gene Autry, The Lone Ranger, The Sons of the Pioneers, etc, etc. And "OUR Song", with Little Roy Wiggins doing his incredible thing that helped make Eddy 70 million dollars in a day and time when a dollar was worth a thousand dollars today.

May God richly bless you Rose. (The Lady who runs a website out of her own pocket that will bring much happiness to so many who visit it).

Dean Nealy made me aware of that site a short while ago. It is a treasure!
I will check out the Eddie Arnold song you referred to in your post.

I've been listening to the Record Lady's site for about a year now, and I sure do agree that she is a treasure!!! She'll add any song you request, to the site, if she has it. And she has the biggest collection of classic country songs I've ever seen!Being 68 years old, It is great to be able to hear those old tunes again! :0

Carl, very nice story.

I got passionate about steel guitar in that same era; I wore out all my 78's of Eddy with Roy and remember that song as though I heard it yesterday, complete with all Roy's fills of course.

That is a wonderful story, Carl. I hope that a lot of people are taking advantage of the treasure that is on this site. I found a song on there that I had been looking for for over 10 years!

If you want to hear the real roots of Country Music, you oughta check it out. The stuff she has from the '20s to the '40s is stuff you'll probably never be able to hear anywhere else.

I too found some old memories at The Record Lady's site. I had been looking for Ferlin Husky's Next To Jimmy for more years than I should admit. Even had Tom Bradshaw helping me as well but we never had any luck. Then b0b and the Forum put me through to her site and I found it ! I wish I could put it into words as nice as yours Carl. Maybe you thanked her enough for both of us, I hope so !
