Who was the Steel player for Slim Willet in
Abilene,Tx Around 1955/56?
This was the first Steel I had ever seen on
TV.

That would have been James Woods. Slim's TV backup band was actually the group "Mike Fletcher and his Hired Hands".

James lives in Ft. Worth and repairs amps some and is still picking. I believe mostly with Red Steagal. James also spent some time with Wayne Newton. Very nice man and a great player. I'm proud to know James.
