Same 'ol Song...

Post by Bill Cutright »

Was lissnen to my favorite possum cut, "Goodyear fir the Roses" and it suddenly kurred to me that this is the same song as Cal Smiths' "Kuntry Bumkin" (same writer?) No matter, but, have ya ever noticed (and I can't believe DDillon ever gotta way with this) that "The Chair" is EXACTLY a rip-o of "Crazy"? So, It got me wundrin...(and we're all familiar with the record company ritual-tradition of cloning and "riding the coat-tails of a hit" by, essentially, copying a prior, mega-successful song syndrome-but, that's different, in that it's always the same artist) but, what other, non-related artist/song rip-offs you can think of????

Bill.. If you're referring to the George Strait song "The Chair", it is not an exact copy of "Crazy". Crazy goes from a 1 chord to a 6 to 2minor to 5, whereas The Chair goes from a 1 to 2minor to a 5 in the first part of the verse.

If there is another song called "The Chair" that I don't know about, then pardon my ignorance.

I stand corrected, verses are different, but the hook line is the same.
Thanks, Rich

Well I turned on the radio the other day and low and behold every song I heard sounded just like the one before. Cory
