Internet Explorer 7 now available for download
Microsoft now has I.E.7 (final) available for free download at www.microsoft.com According to reports it will be released to those that have automatic updates enabled about Nov 1.
One word of caution, although there isn't any mention of it, I would suggest only installing it if you have Windows XP, SP2. There were a couple of reports of problems on the Dell users forum and from what I saw it was those that did not have SP2 or had other issues. Mostly, reports were postitive with no problems installing I.E.7.
I.E.7 adds a phishing filter, popup blocking and tighter security than I.E.6. It also has the tabbed browsing like Firefox and Opera browsers.

As a website developer I have discovered that certain things need to be changed if you want them to render the same in IE7 as they do in IE6 or Firefox. More to come later on this subject. Right now I would advise all SGF members who create websites to check them in IE7 and fix the Doctype declarations, or clean up any bad or proprietary non-standards-compliant coding now, before the general public receives this as an automatic update. Your websites may be broken in IE7, or may not display the way you are used to seeing them. I recommend rewriting in HTML 4.01 Strict, or XHTML strict. Use validated CSS styles and avoid deprecated, or proprietary tag attributes, like Border=, or Language=, or FrontPage markup junk.

Jack;
I can tell you with certainty that some of my CSS-P rules do not render the same in IE7, running on Vista. I have been experimenting to find the solution, since my CSS is valid. It appears that the Doctype declaration can make or break your website's layout, in IE7. Once I get to the bottom of the issue I'll post my findings. All I know at this moment is that a web page that has zero HTML or CSS errors, validated as HTML 4.01 Strict, does not display my left sidebar all the way down the page, unless I play with the doctype wording. This page displays as designed in IE6, Opera 9.02 and Firefox 1.5.0.7.
We were warned to expect differences in rendering, caused by doctypes, by Chris Wilson and his design team, on the official IE7 Blog.

Wiz, both of the sites I maintain are very basic web sites. although they were created with FP2003, they are still plain "vanilla" sites.
www.gulfcoaststeelguitar.com and www.floridasteelguitarclub.com
They are hosted on bluehost.
