Winamp to Windows Media Player?

I recently came across an old data CD where I have a whole bunch of songs on it, and they are there in a WINAMP format.

I downloaded these songs to my PC, and they appeared just fine in the Winamp format.

I then clicked on EDIT/SELECT ALL and then opened the menu to OPEN WITH and clicked on WMP.

A song played OK in WMP, but I was hoping to change ALL the songs from Winamp to WMP, and this did not happen.

How can I convert all these songs from Winamp to WMP?

I have WMP set up, too, as my default player, so I'm a little baffled as to why all the songs didn't convert over.

I know I'm missing something here, it's staring me right in the face, this is nothing new, PLEASE HELP, guys.

I didn't know Winamp had it's own format. What is the extension on the files?

Jack,

I just figured it out. I went to PROPERTIES on one of the songs and it listed it as a Winamp Media File.

And there was a click-on box with CHANGE in it and so I was able to change all the files over to Windows Media Player

Ahh, the files were not "winamp" files, they were just associated with winamp and would automatically open with winamp. Big difference from bein a Winamp proprietary audio format.

Personally, I like Winamp better than WMP. I seem to have more control over what I can do with it and it playes any song I get. Sometimes WMP will not play certain songs. I don't like that. Must be with certain extensions....al
