Zone Alarm problems?

Post by Jon Light (deceased) »

There's a guy on the Weber board (who I do not trust--he is often a jerk) who is claiming that there is a whole major disaster brewing whereby a ZoneAlarm update creates a disaster that results in the need for a drive reformat. http://www.webervst.com/amps/messages/14693.html

Wiz--have you heard any buzz about this?

I'll look into it, since I use ZoneAlarm, and report back to you.

I just came from the User Forums at ZoneLabs.com and some people are reporting problems caused by update 6.5, today.

Here is the particular forum to read about ZoneAlarm Installation and Upgrade problems: http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/board?board.id=inst

I should mention that I use ZoneAlarm Free Edition, and have upgraded to version 6.5.722.000 and have had no problems whatsoever. Furthermore, ZoneLabs have not been able to reproduce the problems people are reporting, but are working on it (trying to crash the product or Windows). Some users have uninstalled the new version (read all of this first!), downloaded the previous version, 6.1.744.001, from here, and are waiting for another update that may fix their problems.

Thanks for the info, Wiz. I'm running (free version) 6.1.737. I have no intention of doing anything but sitting on it. If/when it is recommended that I update, I will do so only after finding out the status of this issue. I think I may have disabled the update notification a while back, is why I have this older version.

Jon,

I have ZA auto update [free version] and updated to 6.5.722.000 last week, or whenever it came out, and have had no problems; yet.

I'm running Windows Home XP.
