Spyware Blaster
I've used this program for several years now. The last few months when I update, the restricted sites enabled shows that 719 sites have protection disabled, try enable all, but it still comes back with 719 disabled sites. I have reinstalled program several time but it doesn't help. I've gone into the restricted sites portion and checked all the disabled sites manually, a pain, but when I restart SB the same thing as before, 719 blah blah. Any suggestions?
Thanks Richard,s

Do you have the current version, 3.5.1? If your version is not current the updates won't take. Aside from that, SpywareBlaster may have become corrupted. Download the current version from Javacool Software, then open your current version and remove ALL protection, then uninstall it via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. After the uninstall is complete install the new version you just downloaded, update the definitions and try applying ALL protection.
If it still refuses to hold it's settings something else is preventing it from writing to the Registry. Perhaps Windows Defender or an over-zealous firewall or other system monitor? Or, perhaps you are running as a "limited user" which prevents most writing to the Registry, especially to the Internet Zones. In this case, if you are running Windows 2k or XP Pro you could elevate yourself to a Power User, which will allow some programs to install and write to the Registry.
Finally, if none of the above suggestions work or apply to your situation, your system has either become corrupted, or has been infected by a major parasite program, virus, or rootkit. You next step would be either reinstall the operating system, or visit one of the malware removal help forums that use Hijack This logs to locate hostile files and Registry entries. My Blog has a list of these forums in the right sidebar, under my own website links and links to anti-spyware programs.

News Flash!
I just read about this problem on the SpywareBlaster Forums, at: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=113841
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">quote:</font><HR><SMALL>
Webroot SpySweeper may prevent SpywareBlaster from enabling Restricted Sites protection. The following work-around should allow you to enable protection in SpywareBlaster:
1.) Disable the SpySweeper "IE Security Shield".
2.) Open SpywareBlaster and enable all protection.
3.) Re-enable the SpySweeper "IE Security Shield".
If you find this workaround is too much trouble every time SpywareBlaster updates, you can also just disable the IE Security Shield in SpySweeper permanently until the issue is fixed.
(And, if you are a customer of Webroot, please e-mail them about the conflict and let them know - thanks!
---------
Also, some other anti-spyware programs may detect the Restricted Sites entries (a false-positive detection) and remove them.
A list will be put up shortly of programs that may exhibit this problem.
Best regards,

Hey----amen on the great job you are doing, Wiz, and the great service you are providing. I am most grateful for the direct solutions to my questions and for the other stuff I pick up lurking on other people's issues. It's excellent to know that I can get good info and advice without having to immerse myself in the world of compugeek BBs where I will be hopelessly lost, intimidated, cold and hungry.
