With the advent of the Mac BootCamp utility and dual booting between Mac OS and Windows on the same machine, virus writers are already spending much more time trying to create viruses and spyware that will exploit any weakness that can be found in the Mac OS, including "cross-pollination" rootkit infections, where a vulnerability in Windows can be used to place a threat on the partition running the Mac OS, which would activate when you booted into that OS.

I would advise all my friends here who use Mac OS machines to install anti-virus and firewall programs, as an added measure of security (not usually applied). If and when a Mac version of a major anti-spyware program becomes available you might want to check it out as well.

Paranoia is thinking they are out to get you. Security conciousness is knowing that they are indeed out to get you.
