More on MS Updates

Post by Jack Stoner »

The last Microsoft Updates apparently has also caused some MS Office problems. There's lots of posts on the Dell users forum that users are unable to "Save As" in MS Office applications.

Here is a MS Article about some of the problems: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165

There is also a note on the Dell forum that MS will issue a "fix" for this on 4/25. See this thread http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=sw_office2000&message.id=30519

Yes, there is a patch for the patch, on April 25. I already blogged about it today. The patch only helps computers that have HP Share to Web software or an Nvidia video card.

Like Wiz said there is a patch if you have "HP Share-to-the Web" software that is installed with some HP Scanners & Printer. Do a search on "Freudi's Registry Patch", a zip file that makes a change to your register. It's easier than adding the line to your register that Microsoft suggests. If you look at programs running in task manager and see "Hpgs2wnd.exe" that is the offending program. The registry fix makes the update overlook this program.
My daughter informed me she couldn't open certain Word Documents and couldn't save changes to other Word documents.
