SB card is biting dust again
The sound from my SB Audigy 2 Platinum has degraded. Sounds distorted with one side degraded in volume as well. This is the second time this has occured. The first, I sent the card to the factory and they repaired (or replaced). I have a new custome built pc now XP. Card has worked fine for a while now same thing is occuring. I plug my computer into the aux of my stereo. Any ideas or similar experience with this card?

Could be it just needs the drivers reinstalled or even just uninstall in the Windows Device manager and the restart Windows and it will be detected and reinstalled.
If that doesn't fix it, and you have confirmed that it's not the speakers, try reseating the card (with the power off, obviously).
This card is not known for that or for failing like that.
An afterthought, if the stereo speaker plug is dirty or not making good conect with the jack that could also occur.

Try another cord between the sound output and the stereo.
Also, you could be overdriving the sound card. Turn the volume down on the program you are running and turn the volume up in the task bar or turn the volume up on the stereo system.. Some audio sources I play with Media Player are recorded at a very high level. In that case, I drop the volume slider control on Media Player to less than 50% and adjust the stereo volume.

I have Audigy II as well, and as of late, within
EAX's ENVIORNMENT it seem's my reverb/echo settings in the many voices are now not working well. I don't hear any differences. I reinstalled Creative Media Source Go, but it didn't seem to help [did not uninstall first, tho, cuz I did uninstall weeks ago, with no results.]
I did go in deeper to the reverb/echo section where you can really fine tune reverb, but I'm pretty dumb about just what all those terms mean and do. I tweaked a couple and noticed somewhat of a change.
Something still doesn't seem right, tho. I think I'll take Jack's advice and go into Device Manager. Completely forgot about that.<font size="1" color="#8e236b"><p align="center">[This message was edited by CHIP FOSSA on 13 April 2006 at 12:19 PM.]</p></FONT>
