Old Mac problems solved

Post by David L. Donald »

I posted a bit of updating frustration a few weeks back.

Well one part of one bar of RAM was bad,
and not clearly so.
I was goping nuts with this boot problem.

Threw that one away and added a full gig,
so now at 1.256 gig, runs smooth now.

That led to anothger issue.
I have 2 ATTO Ultra 160-300 SCSI external drive PCI cards. a dual chan. and a single chan. unit.
Well I could run files to the cards, and they would write,
AND they worked with OS 9.2...

BUT when I moved to OS 10.3 suddenly
I could only reecord 10 seconds of audio
and it would stop.. DRAT!

FINALLY after much research and mind numbing digging,
it turned a set of arcane sync controls in the NEW updated driver software was set for a completely,
different PC based system.

A bit of tweaking and voila! all channels recording fast and clean...
After only a month of hair pulling... not much left on top now...

Protools and Digital Performer are happy to any drive
and new software is running welll.

Ha! as Ricky Davis would say.

Thanks to all those that did come to my aid back then too.

Though I STILL haven't figured out what LUNS are...
no matter it runs.
