Boot Up problem

I am running a p3 800 with 512 ram and win98.
The problem is when I startup the machine it goes through the boot process 4, 5, 6 times or more before it boots up. Sometimes the desktop shows up but before the machine finishes loading it reboots again, sometimes before the win logo shows up it will reboot. When it finally boots up there are no other problems. I have not installed any new programs, no virus has been detected with AVG virus protection. I have adaware that shows nothing. Browsing the registery turns up nothing. Again I will say that when it finally boots the machine works fine. thanks Winston May

Does the issue occur when you boot into Safe Mode?
